Betting Final testing

MatchHorse — A betting house where the house does not bet

A horse-racing betting platform with a different model from a traditional bookmaker: players bet against each other and the platform only matches them and earns on volume.

MatchHorse — Home with upcoming races and wallet balance
<NestJS / Socket.io / MongoDB / React Native>

Problem

An exchange needs one player's offer to find its counterparty instantly, balances that are exact to the last cent, and every movement recorded and auditable. None of that can be improvised with off-the-shelf tools, and the business needed a mobile app and a website showing the same information at the same time.

Constraints

  • Every ticket changes everyone's book: updates had to be immediate on every device.
  • Balances, limits and settlements demand strict consistency; a rounding error is a legal problem.
  • Business logic had to serve the app and the website without being duplicated.

Solution

I designed the system with Clean Architecture: a NestJS backend that concentrates matching, wallets, limits and the auditable ledger, and publishes every change over Socket.io to the React Native app and the web platform. The race card is organised by racetrack and race; on each position the player can back or lay, publish a ticket and watch it get matched automatically.

Relevant features

  • Race card by racetrack
  • Positions exchange: back or lay each place
  • Automatic ticket matching
  • Wallet with balance, limits and an auditable record of every movement
  • Bet and ticket history
  • iPhone and Android app + web platform on the same backend

Result

The business has a complete exchange, with app and web, where players bet against each other and every movement is recorded. It is in final testing before launch; the client will announce the date.
